Corporate- A Befuddling World!!!

A smile which is bleak but you should carry it for the sake of looking elegant and a product of buiseness world, you have to be smart enough to shove others in order to make your own way!! Well this is just a glimpse i got yesterday while attending the PPV session at my institute. I cannot say my weakness is a strong temptation for gol gappas and shahid, winnie afcourse because that sounds extremely unprofessional! I can be thrown out for saying that i love sleeping, and cracking jokes with my friends or i am too emotional... because this is something that cannot work according to those who are the spectators there for my interview. I felt appalled hearing that my looks should speak buiseness but what if they speak innocence or any other thing, sorry that won't be entertained !! But ya that's just a coup d'oeil of the world i am going to enter into. Well i wasn't unware of the milieu of corporate but yeaterday i just imagined myself into that soup! Till today i never gave it a thought as to how i am going to stand firm and grounded when the winds will blow in reality. But yesterday i actually gave it a thought why i want to pursue MBA... just on the mere fact that i would enter a premier B school or alluring packages or because i'll get a chance to speak a lot there, to interact with new people but the latter reasons don't come with a grave desire, the major essence of things is MONEY! Which actualy rules today. I had a walk through the buiseness world when i saw Corporate but that time i din't understand the repurcussions, may be the movie was all created to show the other side of it and that's the way movies are made, to put on something which is different! May be this post of mine for a person all embodied into corporate can be jejune but it matters for me especially in the context of discovering myself! When we are taught and trained for ineterviews and sessions like that, i feel  the people there in the panel must have passed through the same track, but still we have to speak what's not true, because that's the way the world goes, if you don't follow the trend, you are seizured! and there are many to join your place, you are not among the millions! So the war between the inner heart and mind and afcourse the outer world still continues but lamenting about it won't help, because the world outside needs one to be stiff and afcouse confidence in a sense to speak flawlessly even if you are lying... that's the world.. all befuddling!!!!!!!

  1. I would like to point that in corporate movie, one senior management officer immediately resigned when we was asked to lie about safety of drinks, and then he started his own firm. No one is forcing us to say a lie, compromise, we do it because we want the job, we want a fixed hefty salary. It is the way we take, whether we want to just land in as a safe secured job where we have to be compliant with the boss's wish. Or we want to take the unsecured unpaved stony pathway of discovering ourselves, living the way we want to live. Corporate world is about making money and profits at the cost of anything. We can't hold it accountable for holding up our innocence and feelings. We have to find a place for our wishes and dreams....

  2. @nidhi what you say is really true but that goes with the movie in particular.. i mean the practical world demands us in a newer form.. well, no one is ever forced but then we never realise and the day comes when we become accustomed to things.. the dreams and wishes must be given utmost importance! but corporate demands professionals who can manipulate well.. don't know but we ought to speak only buiseness! Its like similar to listening of jazz even when i love opera because times won't always favour me..!!! but i loved ur idea of the stony path.. really confident one!!

  3. I agree with Nidhi to an extent here. You never have to lie. If there's one thing I've learnt, it is that don't go so far away from yourself that it is difficult to find your way back.

There is a reason why you aren't supposed to tell those people about gol gappas or that you're a sleepoholic. These are personal things that only a few people are supposed to have the privilege of knowing. Because if a person really wants to know you, he should be sitting at home reading this amazing blog, and not be on the panel of your interview. Your secrets are so close and so dear that an interview doesn't stand high enough to warrant them. You have to say something there, but why not build them a wall that challenges them to climb over and see the real you? Otherwise it is just not worth it for either you or them. A B-School, or for that matter any job, is not important enough.

And even then if you believe that you want to change all this, then perhaps you'd do well to heed the saying: "You have to be the system to change it." Fight your way into the system by whatever means and then change it for generations who'd look up to you.

I hope you still go for it! At one point or another, people falter during their quest for MBA. I hope you have it in you to go all the way.

    Cheers

  4. @ sir, well this is something i was in dearth of,esp the wall thing is too encouaging. Now i feel actualy that things don't really change if you have a strong will. Being obscure about things doesn't help, i was in a state of great confusion because i felt i would completly loose my actual self, my creativity when the corporate life would actualy start because in a way the things become customary and we never realise where are we heading on. Afcourse i won't falter and would keep these things in mind, thanks for advocating me sir, i believe i wud keep discovering myself each moment and wud keep going :-)
